You are Blessed

Matthew 5 (The Message)
You're Blessed
1-2 When Jesus saw his ministry drawing huge crowds, he climbed a hillside. Those who were apprenticed to him, the committed, climbed with him. Arriving at a quiet place, he sat down and taught his climbing companions. This is what he said:
3"You're blessed when you're at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.

4"You're blessed when you feel you've lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.

5"You're blessed when you're content with just who you are—no more, no less. That's the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can't be bought.

6"You're blessed when you've worked up a good appetite for God. He's food and drink in the best meal you'll ever eat.

7"You're blessed when you care. At the moment of being 'care-full,' you find yourselves cared for.

8"You're blessed when you get your inside world—your mind and heart—put right. Then you can see God in the outside world.

9"You're blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That's when you discover who you really are, and your place in God's family.
10"You're blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. The persecution drives you even deeper into God's kingdom.

11-12"Not only that—count yourselves blessed every time people put you down or throw you out or speak lies about you to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and they are uncomfortable. You can be glad when that happens—give a cheer, even!—for though they don't like it, I do! And all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company. My prophets and witnesses have always gotten into this kind of trouble.

Still 18 days...

I met up with a very lovely lady today, Necia who had the pleasure of going to Uganda with ACTS as well earlier this year with her husband. Me and Katie Jeffery, another intern on this trip, intrigued with questions, asked away at her for a good two hours today. It was really nice. I had alot answered and feel more comfortable about alot of the small stuff. Tommorow I have a long awaited meeting with Mr. David Moore, the director of ACTS and Ms. Jackie Anderson. We will be discussing my posting and clarifying, hopefully, alot of the gray areas that are in my mind as to what is going to proceed with my duties once i arrive on Ugandan soil.

My day is done, and I must sleep.

18 days!!

Time is flying by like mad. I can't emphasize that enough. Its crazy. I pray that it will slow down once im in Africa, I dont want it to fly by like it is now. Any ways. 18 days left today, untill i fly out of the Vancouver International Airport at 8:35 pm. Im Flying about 9 hours to Heathrow, London. A 7 hour layover and then another 9 hour flight to Entebbe, Uganda. I want to write you more about whats going on, but I have a meeting to go to and I need to prepare. So I will hopefully continue this blog later tonight.

God Bless

Garage Sale

Well my last big fundraiser was a garage sale. The Community was really awesome about advertising in the newspapers about needing donations for it and then alot of people showed up to shop and help. We had a very busy morning on Saturday and had hotdogs and hamburgers for lunch that sold out in about an hour and a half! So the GRAND total raised was $1500!! So thank you so much to everyone who came out, and thanks for all the donations. Everything left over we are taking to The Salvation Army.

Tommorow is the date that i have to have all my money in. So we are now down to less than 24 hours. $2000 dollars to go. I have faith its all going to come together. If you pray please pray for me, if not...please start...;)

Love Mel!
